Return to having a monthly large item disposal day where people can set out mattresses, couches, etc. that they no longer want and have them picked up by Sunset Scavenger.
It’s a great thing to do for two reasons. 1) When bulky items are put on the street once a month, people will scavenge the sidewalks the night before and find re-usable items that will work fine in their own homes. This reduces how much we put into landfills and helps people with less money get by. 2) It discourages random dumping by people who are unsure of how to get rid of that couch, mattress, etc. Monthly bulky item disposal will prevent us all from having to watch that ugly, cushion-less couch rot on the sidewalk for weeks.
