I have a solution (ok not solution, but something that will help the problem) for the traffic slowdown that occurs daily on the 101 N approach to the 101N/I80East intersection. The first set of signs that alert drivers to the intersection of these two highways and the approach of the bay bridge need to be switched around/combined. People FREAK out (translation: slow down) when they read the signs at this point on 101 N that seem to say you only have access to the Bay bridge from one lane, the second from the left center divide), and everyone tries to squish into that lane which slows down all of the other lanes. This sign is misleading. It should alert traffic to the fact that there is a split ahead but that you can be in either of the right two lanes for 7th ave/bay bridge and the left two lanes for golden gate bridge/101/ octavia street/9th avenue exit. Not sure if this makes any sense, but it would be very helpful if the signs were combined to be inclusive of 7th ave/bay bridge on one, not two separate ones. Leave that for later.
