I often miss out on events being held just down the street from me in Golden Gate Park. I’d love if there were some sort of master website that listed all the "events" (street fairs, concerts, celebrations, etc.) going on. In my vision, organizers would be asked if they want to be included in a community calendar when they submit their paperwork for the permits they need to use city property or close down streets. The website would include information like the date(s) of the event, type of event, and whether or not there is an entry fee, along with contact information for further info (so that the city isn’t "advertising" for these events for free). Another wonderful function would be a way in which we citizens could register with the website for email updates, either to be notified of all events, or of those only in specified zip codes, etc. I have previously suggested this to Supervisor McGoldrick’s office and received the run-around. I hope to reach someone more responsive through the Mayor’s Office.
