Fix MUNI. I’m so sick of this same complaint. The biggest problem is that it’s unionized. Dissolve the whole damn thing and start from scratch without a union, and competant people managing it or let a private company do it. End the days of MUNI hiring any idiot, make race IRRELEVENT in the hiring process and place emphasis on competance and ability and who’s best for the job, then hold people ACCOUNTABLE (i.e. fire bad employees!). Come to think of it, the entire city could benefit from this outlook.

I agree. The Union certainly hasn’t helped the city and for that matter hasn’t helped Muni. Right now we are hearing that it will take 5 years before we can reach 85% on time service. In the “real world” that would be totally unacceptable. The Union has no vested interest in making Muni work, and they have certainly had plenty of time to fix it. Throw out the union and bring in managers from the private sector who know how to manage to a quality service level.
