Don’t Give Illegals ID Cards
November 26th, 2007 10:32 am

Don't give Illegals ID cards, make them go thru the proper channels. You are draining our country of its resources and putting an increasing burden on our tax paying citizen.  Name Withheld Read This Post »

Recycling Bins
November 19th, 2007 11:04 am

Hello Mayor Newsom, Have you ever considered having TSA style locks placed on the blue recycling bins in San Francisco? I think this would help a lot with the homeless problem (particularly at the recycling center in GG park) and also help to protect people from identity theft. The locks could have two keys one for the bin user and another general key for the waste management workers. The money the city saves not having to pay for bottles & cans that are stolen out of recycling bins would probably pay for the locks and even generate more revenue for Read This Post »

LGBT Rights
November 16th, 2007 11:23 am

1.  LGBT Rights - Try LGBT essay topics in curriculum.  They can be diced up decently with few objections. 2. Gansta Rap - Encourage Anti-Gangsta Rap.  It can sound just as good. Johnny Chan Read This Post »

Signal light at Sunset and Quintara
November 14th, 2007 1:20 pm

Too many accidents at Sunset Blvd and Quintara. There are 3 bus stops. There is a high school at the intersection, a middle school 2 blocks away and an elementary school 2 blocks away. There were 2 accidents over the weekend. A light pole was demolished in the last 2 months. We need a signal light, or at least a school crossing light for pedestrians when crossing. Please make a change before someone is killed. You should not have to RUN across the street to beat the speeding traffic! Thank you. Name Withheld Read This Post »

Close the Bay
November 13th, 2007 10:38 am

If you can close the airport because of weather, why not close San Francisco Bay for bad weather. No ships can move until fog lifts ! Name Withheld Read This Post »

Emergency preparedness
November 13th, 2007 10:37 am

The corporate/government response to the current spill has been unconscionable. The SF Bay communities include vast numbers of well informed, engaged people bound closely to their bay, their ocean, their wildlife, their cities. That a smattering of volunteer organizations have been left to filter the massive outpouring of eagerness to help is inefficient and exasperating. At the very least, an equivalent to the NERT volunteers who could at very very least quickly post warnings on beaches (Ocean Beach was left open for a day with tarballs fouling clothing and endangering the lives of people and companion animals because there were no Read This Post »

Fewer babies is greener
November 13th, 2007 10:35 am

Topic 1:  -5 Volts California, actually minus 4 to 5 volts comes from Dr. Bill Wattenburg of KGO Radio.  He said it should save CA about $700 million. Topic 2:  Population Control Pass out a designer flyer to students that says "FEWER BABIES IS GREENER."  It can also be placed in condom boxes to curb unwanted pregnancy. Download a ballot
November 9th, 2007 4:07 pm

Hello Gavin,   My wife and I are SF residents and have been traveling around the country and Canada for nearly 2 years. We both sent in the absentee ballot form and stipulated that the ballot be mailed to a different address (not our SF address).  This is clearly stated as an option on the absentee ballot form. Whoever was responsible at City Hall sent it incorrectly to our home address instead.  Because of this error we were unable to vote. We were surprised that both of our absentee ballots were sent to the wrong address and wondered whether MANY others had Read This Post »

Green ideas from Florida
November 8th, 2007 3:36 pm

Dear Mayor Newsom, My name is Jared Moskowitz and I am the Vice Mayor of the city of Parkland in South Florida. I wanted to share this environmental program that I am proposing to the city commission. I have attached an article below explaining the program. It would be great to have your thoughts as you are a leader in the environmental arena. I think you will find the idea of returning tax dollars in exchange for participation in environmental programs innovative. Sincerely, Jared Moskowitz ----- Parkland plan gives residents incentives for going green By Lisa J. Huriash |South Florida Sun-Sentinel PARKLAND - Residents could soon Read This Post »

Fund and Enforce Laura’s Law
November 8th, 2007 3:19 pm

Congratulations on your re-election, Mayor Newsom!   Please make your second-term priority to revisit the issue of enforcing and funding Laura's Law. You have cited "institutional resistance" for holding back on your promise to do so.  You overcame social forces against supporting equal marriage rights for gay couples because it was the right thing to do.  I applaud that decision.   Funding and enforcing Laura's Law is right in keeping with your commitment to reduce homelessness and match our destitute and severely mentally ill residents with the services they need.  Please do not allow any more psych bed reductions at SFGH.  Please support Assertive Read This Post »

Green Initiatives
November 8th, 2007 10:55 am

My company, CSRware (www.csrware.com), is moving software technology into SF business to certify GREEN INITIATIVES - it quantifies, certifies and reduces emissions.  We want to partner with Mayor Newsom in moving this forward.  How can I talk to him directly?  I met him last night during his City tour.
