According to the SF Chronicle, we are "down to 280 encampments..." in Golden Gate Park. Hello? Shouldn't this be ZERO? Get out a fire tanker truck and go in and hose out each encampment. I don't care if they think of themselves as "harmless eccentrics," there is nothing harmless about living in a camper, RV, car, tent or tarp unless you are in a campground and San Francisco's parks are NOT campgrounds.
Maybe it's time to forget the homeless "shelters" and go outside the city and build a "homeless campground." Get GGNRA to donate some land, add porta potties, install

I often miss out on events being held just down the street from me in Golden Gate Park. I'd love if there were some sort of master website that listed all the "events" (street fairs, concerts, celebrations, etc.) going on. In my vision, organizers would be asked if they want to be included in a community calendar when they submit their paperwork for the permits they need to use city property or close down streets. The website would include information like the date(s) of the event, type of event, and whether or not there is an entry fee, along with

If we are paying $800,000 to clean up needles, why not give $1 (cash or coupon for food) back to the user for every one they bring back? Bet we would get alot of them picked up and returned just like recycling bottles and cans.

Dear Mayor,
I have a suggestion and am not sure if this is the correct venue for its airing but here goes anyway.
I believe that San Francisco is sorely missing a wind horn system. "A wind horn?" you might ask?
Well, upon doing some amateur observation in the park over the last few weeks, it seems that there is a large number of kites and frisbees stuck in trees in Golden Gate Park and in the Presidio as well.
We have a foghorn system, why not have a wind horn that blows when the air is too blustery for the [safe]throwing of

Dear Mayor Newsom, if I were mayor, I would continue with your valiant efforts to improve both San Francisco citizens' quality of life and tourism by making San Francisco cleaner and more fun. The challenges are, of course, homelessness which is an eyesore, infrastructure maintenance, and better planning for a more "user friendly" city. For example, Golden Gate Park is very pretty to drive through, but seems to lack a center where people gather and sit and be social or people watch. I find this to be lacking in SF in general. Union Square doesn't really capture it, nor does

Increase revenues and decrease congestion in Golden Gate park by installing parking meters or other fee mechanism on the streets now free to anyone and charging parking fees during weekday business hours.

Please, please soon pave the JFK lower drive(below transverse drive) in Golden Gate park. It is a major, major hazard for bicycles and terrible for cars and tourists!

Design a permanent gate which could be opened or closed as needed, This would be similar to the gate which closes off Maiden Lane downtown. Half of the gate would be located on the 'island' which separates the ingoing and outcoming lanes of traffic. The other parts would be on either side. I think this would be much more aesthetic than the current portable and temporary barriers that are moved each weekend; and would minimize the need for staff to bring parts in and out as needed. Thank you for your consideration of this suggestion.
