The corporate/government response to the current spill has been unconscionable. The SF Bay communities include vast numbers of well informed, engaged people bound closely to their bay, their ocean, their wildlife, their cities. That a smattering of volunteer organizations have been left to filter the massive outpouring of eagerness to help is inefficient and exasperating. North Ocean Beach is regularly swamped with litter, broken glass, and charred remains of countless fires. The city should encourage and help fund GGNRA efforts to purchase and use a modern beach cleaning machine on the beach.  The beach is enjoyed by thousands but the conditions are deplorable. Mayor Newsom, There needs to be a first class bathroom at Ocean Beach, with minimal impact on parking. Maybe it could be across the street in the open space under the cliffs. An example of a well done project is at Ft. Chronkite in Marin—it is always clean. I surf OB a lot, and it is difficult with no bathrooms.
