Green Yahoo taxis ActLocallySF Gavin Newsom San FranciscoOn Monday, May 14, in New York City’s Times Square, Yahoo and Global Green USA, launched the Be a Better Planet” challenge to find America’s Greenest City.  This nationwide challenge is taking place between May 14 and June 8 – the winning city not only gets all the glory, but they get a fleet of ten hybrid taxi cabs.

Of course, San Francisco should be the natural winner of this competition, but to make this happen, we need you to Act Locally today.

How Can You ActLocally?

Go to http://better.yahoo.com/planet —  to earn points for San Francisco:

Take the Green Pledge: Visit http://better.yahoo.com/planet and commit to lowering your carbon diet by pledging such actions as changing light bulbs, taking public transportation, using reusable shopping bags, properly inflating tires, and recycling more;

Share Environmental Knowledge: Help save the planet by answering an environmental question and contributing to the growing body of knowledge and advice on Yahoo! Answers (http://answers.yahoo.com/);

Gain Green Knowledge: Learn more about living a greener life by conducting a "green" mobile search on Yahoo! oneSearch (http://mobile.yahoo.com/mobileweb/onesearch), a new search service with results optimized for the mobile phone. You can enter keywords such as "organic food," "public transport," "recycle center," "bike," and "ride share" to find relevant resources.

We already know San Francisco is the greenest city of them all – let’s make sure we get the recognition and the cool hybrid taxis.
