Join Mayor Newsom, Encourage Youth Activism

Mayor Gavin Newsom 18 in 08This Thursday evening, Mayor Newsom will join Mobilize.org to launch its Democracy 2.0 campaign and premier an exciting new documentary, “18 in ’08.” This film, created by an 18-year-old filmmaker, features candid interviews on voter turnout with young people across America. The Mayor will speak about the importance of youth involvement in politics and government, as well as the crucial role of technology in encouraging civic participation among young people. The event, hosted by Mobilize.org, will celebrate the launch of the Democracy 2.0 campaign—an effort to empower young people to vote and become active in their communities. Join Mayor Newsom this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Bar (473 Broadway St.) to help launch Democracy 2.0 and find out about ways to get involved and Act Locally. Read more »
