					<description>I find it funny that in all of this no one seems to recall local history.

We once had a B-Geary line that ran down the middle of Geary St. It was removed in 1956 because BART was promised to San Francisco and was going to run UNDERGROUND all the way to the ocean. The thought was that having two rail lines was duplication of service.

Obviously that didn't happen. Funny enough, San Francisco has been subsidising suburban stops and all the while is still owed a line out down Geary St.

Now, I seriously doubt anyone now will allow that, given the insane hysterics people go over BRT. But people, try and learn your history a little, and perhaps learn from the blunders of the past. Would anyone suggest that the haphazard service of the 38 Bus line is serving ANYONE well?&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;label&gt;Overall Rating&lt;/label&gt;: 1&lt;/li&gt;

					<description>Finally, someone with a reasonable approach to the problem!  I am so tired of everyone thinking that tearing up the trees and getting rid of the ivy just to put buses down the middle of the street is the be-all and end-all for our transit problems.  Many years ago (at least 20), I attended a MUNI community meeting at which they attempted to convince us that installing trolleys would be the answer to all the problems for the 38 Geary line.  I asked about the limited and express buses - how would they be handled with overhead lines.  We were told that they would remain the same.  Then I asked how many people rode them, vs the number of people who rode the locals.  More than 60% rode the buses that would not be affected by the switch to electric trolleys.  I'm sure that situation hasn't changed over the years, yet the BRT wouldn't have any impact on the number of riders on the limited/express buses.  When will they learn!
